Wecome to our Afrino website As stated the Afrino is our second South African meat/merino wool breed and was imported due to impressive figures for fertility, growth and wool with the comprehension that significant sheep meat production will, in the future need to come out of marginal cropping and pastoral areas.

Malcolm Fleet of SARDI did initial wool tests which confirmed our confidence in the wool, and Ian Bradtke of Lazerline has been doing both wool and EMDs during the past few years with positive news on both figures. Reportedly yesterday's (3/8/11) tests were excellent with all visually classed rams performing well. I trust I will have the figures on the website later tomorrow (5/8/11)

Most information on Afrinos is unfortunately in Afrikaans - nevertheless the results are impressive when these sheep are run in the drier areas of the country. Please note the photos from the Pooncairie NSW area. Last reports have seen $125 for four to five month old Afrino/Mo cross pastoral bred lambs at the Ouyen market.

This year we have quality Afrino rams for sale with impressive figures: it is clear there is current significant interest in the ability of these sheep to allow graziers to retain white merino wooled ewes, increase fertility and maternal protectiveness in marginal conditions. We have not yet ( 5/8/11) received the EMD figures from Ian but are hopeful that I can post soon.

If you are interested please contact Allan Haggett on 0427 713 115. Please leave a message if he is unable to answer as Telstra has not necessarily cured all of the connectivity problems.
